it’s been quiet…

…around here Chez Fabulous, as everyone gets back into the swing of things after our fantastic Cambria road trip. Life slowly gets back to normal. Cooler temps and a little bit of rain in our fair ‘hood means I have commenced with Winter Hat Knitting For Everyone. Winter Hat The First, “The Captain’s New Square” is done:

with Winter Hat The Second on the needles. Alas, that’s going to be someone’s Christmas present so I can’t actually picture it here. But it’s fab, trust me. Both are Jared Flood’s Turn A Square (ravelry link) done in my own handspun. This pattern fits my Captain Sexypants so well and he likes it so much that he has three in different colors.

If you are going to be romantic with knitters, you’d better love wool is all I’m saying.

A few new goodies up in the shop, too. I’ve been turning out some of these nifty glass tile pendants for the holiday gift fair season, only I’ve embellished them a little bit more than the usual and I’m quite pleased with the results.

These fine silver lovelies are already gone, but I was so pleased with them – they are the companion earrings to Emily the necklace, and I will have more of these up in the shop in a few days.

The cooler weather also seems to be bringing out my love affair with warmer, brighter colors! These glass beauties:

and these gemstone clusters:

will warm even the grayest day right up, I think. At least that’s how I felt when I was playing at the bench!

So… quiet. More knitting along with movies on the DVD player and streaming on the iTunes. More quiet time with books. I always welcome the advent of the quiet season, the season of gray skies, cashmere sweaters and endless mugs of milky hot tea. Never mind that it’s going to be 80 and blue skies by the weekend. It’s almost here! Almost!

Oh anyway. I’m gonna go dream of knit hats and bright earrings worn on rainy days.

The silver Mucha piece uses the same picture that I based this on. Your art is gorgeous, hon.
