back to work

I got into the studio today for the first time in over a week. I’ve been traveling, dealing with the death of a beloved family member and all that entails. It felt good to fire up the torch, ball wire into headpins and think about new pieces and pretty gemstones, rather than sadness and loss. Life goes on, a little different than before, but the sky is still blue, the birds still sing, hollyhocks still bloom… it’s okay. It’s sad, and it’s okay. It’s good to be home after all the travel. Good to get things back to normal, at least as normal as they ever are around here!

This weekend you can find some Honey&Ollie pieces at the Xiem Clay Center‘s art show. My friend, Delia Traister, is graciously exhibiting a small selection of my pieces at her booth. If you are near the Altadena/Pasadena area this weekend, you should really check the show (and her booth!) out. She’s a wonderful, magical PMC artist and her work is really fun. Xiem is a great community treasure and the show features all kinds of great work.

Honey &Ollie is also going to be at Whimsic Alley‘s Wizard’s Craft Show on May 28/29! If you’re LA local, you should check it out. It’s small – about 25 vendors give or take a few – but seriously cool.

Last and maybe most nerve wracking, I’m waiting to hear whether or not I’ve been accepted for Art On Millionaire’s Row, a craft and arts show put on by the Friends of the Altadena Library. That one’s juried, the application is in, and we’ll see if I make it. Fingers are crossed…

I love the name “Whimsic Alley Wizards.” It’s the sort of title that really needs no further exposition –you can glean from it exactly what kind of artists will be there and what kind of patrons will be in attendance. Awesome stuff!
